Not to worry, if you wish to use the latest 3DxWare driver to use your 3D mouse with WYSIWYG, you have 2 options. The latest 3DxWare driver released by 3DConnexion last week ( Version 10.2.2 released ) shipped with some new default configurations for WYSIWYG and WYSIWYG Demo, that improve functionality for R34 and previous releases (which use the old SDK). We decided that it was time to switch over to using the 3DxWare driver to connect to these devices, because the driver delivers additional functionality which we did not have before, it delivers the ability to customize buttons on your 3D mouse devices (the higher models which include buttons), and finally the driver is the only way to communicate with the new 3D Wireless models. If you are wondering how is this different than before, the answer is previously we did not use the 3DxWare driver and instead WYSIWYG received data through an older 3D mouse SDK.
Included in the new additions of the R34 Update is new functionality for the 3DConnexion Mouse devices using the 3DxWare driver. These Updates are packed with new functionality, enhancements and bug fixes, so I encourage everyone to go download them ( for more info on the Update, I encourage you to read the Release Notes accompanying the installation).
Caveat Emptor and all that when it comes to new versions of software and hardware. As some of you noticed in your emails, we just released an update to both WYSIWYG R34 and Vivien 2015. Telling us and them this is “unacceptable” is really helping no one. Cut them some slack and just report the issues in a calm, clear tone. In their defense, they aren’t a “SketchUp Input Device” company and they may not always be able to update concurrent with our release. If you’re considering upgrading to the latest version of SketchUp (immediately after it’s released) and you depend on your 3D Connexion device then again, check with their site to be sure it’s compatible.
If you use 3D Connexion devices you should always go to them first to see if there are newer drivers available. 3DConnexion is unique in this regard because they have both a OS driver and a plugin for SketchUp which references hard coded paths, those change between versions. We do our best to get beta access for active developers so they can update their drivers if necessary for use with SketchUp and typically they ONLY need to make adjustments to plugins for the new version of SketchUp. We are wholly at the mercy of the drivers for a device by that manufacturer. SketchUp inherits ALL mouse input from the Operating System and we do not have any “drivers” in the software which we can or do modify to work with different input devices. (for Windows 7 you can use this and for Windows 8 use this : ).
PS 2 : Also note the folder is invisible, so make sure you make this folder visible to reach it.
PS 1: when going to C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg replace yourusername with your account name to locate the folder. (as a safe measure, copy the file to your desktop before deleting), then reboot, relaunch Sketchup, then open the 3D connexion settings and adjust to your liking, and that file should recreated works for you, with the new parameters. So maybe try removing the SketchUp.xml file to force the generating of a new fresh settings file. If that is the case, those parameters are individually saved for each software/applications in this folder :Ĭ:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg It is possible the problem you are experiencing is due to the 3D Connexion settings used with Sketchup 2014, that are not carried across properly with the Sketchup 2015 version. Feel I should share information with a setup that works as I have no issue, and it is working fine/well, if this helps troubleshoot the problem :Īlso, I can add the same software mentioned above is installed on an other machine using Windows 8 (64 bits) and it works fine as well.
